Somebody had to ask
Most of what gets passed around in this dance is somebody’s opinion wearing a lab coat. Each episode we take one of those and see whether it survives contact with biomechanics, with what actually happens in a classroom, or just with being said out loud to another Brazilian who’s been at this for twenty-two years and won’t let it slide.
What we talk about
Biomechanics
Why one movement works and the next one hurts, and why “just relax” has never once fixed anybody’s tension.
Teaching
How to run a class that produces dancers, instead of students who can perform a combination once and never use it again.
The business
Festival economics, what artists actually get paid, and why the good teachers burn out and quit, which I did twice.
The parts nobody says out loud
Competition politics, gatekeeping, comparison, ego, and the leader shortage that every social has and no organiser has solved, including me.
What it actually is
Two of us, a new episode every week, and now and then a guest who knows more than both of us put together.
It’s free and it stays free. If it’s worth something to you there’s a way to support it, and that is the entire business model.
